The Story of our Trees

The Inspiration Behind Meyerhof’s Unique Apartment Names
In early 2022, Meyerhof began as more than a guesthouse dream, we gave birth to what we dreamt would be the most enjoyed Guest House in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. It became a love story between a heritage home, its picturesque garden and the guests who stepped through its doors. Since that time, we’ve welcomed guests from all over the world, shared laughter under the trees and made friendships that feel like family.

We’ve made some friends for life and, delighted in sharing Meyerhof with fellow South Africans and foreigners alike. From the very beginning, Roy made one promise: the trees stay. No matter what. This beautiful, magical garden was here long before us, and we wanted every guest to feel that connection to nature.
So when we started building our apartments, we didn’t remove the trees…
We built around them. Literally.

Three Trees Cottage – Our very first apartment was shaped around three trees, each gently boxed in concrete and preserved inside the structure. You can’t see them – but they’re there, standing strong, rooted in the story.

Palm Place Studio – The next unit features the grand old palm tree, the tallest on the property, soaring through the very heart of the apartment. Discreetly enclosed, she stands majestic and timeless.

Bare Tree Cottage – Then we decided: why hide nature when you can celebrate it? This apartment features a real tree growing boldly through the room, fully on display – alive, proud, and beautifully part of your stay. Sleep beside it. Touch it. Connect with it.

At Meyerhof, our trees aren’t just landscaping. They’re personality. They’re history. They’re home.
And now they’re part of your story too.

How we Host

Meyerhof is a story of heart, heritage and hospitality. Lovingly restored and nurtured over the years, it stands as Roy’s personal labour of care, a space where every corner reflects dedication and a genuine love for hosting. Born and raised in Cape Town, Roy carries the city in his heart and knows its hidden gems – from tucked-away breakfast cafés to Constantia wine tastings and scenic backroad escapes.
Together with his close-knit team of four, they keep the gardens lush, the rooms inviting and the atmosphere effortlessly calm.

At Meyerhof, guests are treated like family and cared for with genuine warmth yet given the privacy to simply be. Whether it’s a morning hike on the nearby mountain trails, a wine route wander, a game of golf, or a relaxing sunset BBQ by the pool, Roy and his team are always ready to welcome you home.
